Coffee and Flowers in the Winter
Coffee and Flowers in Winter
18"x24"
Acrylic, Oil, Charcoal and coffee grounds
In the dead of winter, looking at flowers deeply while transcribing their detail onto stretched paper, I painted this bunch of Carnations, Lilies, Hydrangeas and Chrysanthemums. Tucked beside their rich green companions, meditating on the life inside, was balm inside a long dark winter. The dark moody background reflects the weather outside, the flowers, creating a contrast of mood and experience. And then there's real coffee grounds texturing the vase. Coffee, flowers, winter *sigh.
