After the Tulips Bloomed
After the Tulips bloomed
12x16"
Acrylic, Ink Markers
Artists: Sarah, Sam and Isaac Bailey
My tulips were no longer perky, their show was over and their blooms bowed low as if to take a final bow. I was in the last neat and necessary details of completing my piece, 'Tulips in bloom', and my brain was craving playfulness. Sloshing paint and adding layers of mess to a sheet of stretched paper was a rebellious respite from finishing my work. When Sam (9) and Isaac (7) came home from school, they saw my mess and assured me they would "fix" it. According to my collaborators, the work needed context; a cow and a bird, grass, blue sky, and a few more flowers.
Isaac added a carefully placed letter G to symbolize that it was"good". And it was.
*all proceeds from this painting will go directly into Isaac and Sam's piggy banks, (they are saving for pets).
